At the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, nestled in the shadow of magnificent Mariepskop, many of South Africa’s abandoned and injured species that can’t be released into the wild find a home. Being permanent residents these animals happen to serve as ambassadors for their species to help educate the public. Whenever possible though animals in rehab are released into the wild.
The centre has achieved great success in protecting endangered species through its breeding programs. The Crowned Eagle and Serval amongst other species have been successfully bred and reintroduced to areas where they have become extinct.
