A Multi-day Wilderness Backpack Trail
In partnership with Wildside Trails, we’ve created a wilderness retreat for those who wish to meet Africa on foot — and, in time, themselves. At its heart is a wilderness backpack trail through some of South Africa’s wildest Big 5 country.
You walk in single file. In silence. No conversation to hide behind. No engine. No itinerary, ticking through sightings. Only your footfall, a guide’s instinct for the wild, and a landscape that has nothing to prove. Up to sixteen kilometres a day, carrying only what you need — three nights, or five, the choice is yours.
Before and after, four nights unfold at LALA LODGE. Unhurried days. Dinners under a wide sky. A veranda made for doing nothing at all. We arrange the transfers. We prepare you for the trail. The rest of the world, we hold at a distance. WILD TREK asks you to walk until the noise quiets down. Demanding in the right way — it asks something of you and gives back more than it takes.

We offer pre-arranged trail dates as well as the option to request custom dates for either a 3-night or 5-night Wilderness Backpack Trail.

– Return Hoedspruit Airport and private trail drop-off point road transfers.
– 2 nights at LALA LODGE before and 2 nights after the trail.

– Dedicated vehicle and driver available throughout your stay in Hoedspruit.
– 3 LALA LODGE breakfast baskets plus 1 early morning coffee and snack box on your day of departure to the trailhead.
– Secure main luggage storage at LALA LODGE during the trail.
– The Last Light Dinner — a private chef sets the table at LALA LODGE for one last evening beneath the African sky.
Flights, travel insurance, additional activities, dining out, and anything not specifically mentioned are not included.
